May 21, 2026: Visual Data and Open Science: Friends or Foes? (In presence)
Have you ever wondered if the visual data you work with can truly be considered “open”?
Or have you ever found yourself grappling with issues related to anonymization, consent, or reuse?
Have you ever hesitated to share images, screenshots, or videos because you were unsure about the ethical or legal implications?
If these questions sound familiar, you’re not alone.
Our interactive workshops are designed for researchers who work with visual materials and want to tackle these challenges with greater confidence. Together, we will explore real-life cases of visual data sharing and reflect on how to balance openness with responsibility, context sensitivity, and ethical considerations.
You will be introduced to a new guidance platform for open visual data and learn how to use it in practice. Through hands-on activities and group discussions, you will apply it to concrete situations, exchange perspectives with other researchers, and develop strategies you can directly integrate into your own work.
