Guidelines for future use

Preservation is not just storage. It’s long-term care. 

Licenses define the formal legal terms for reuse, but they often don’t capture the ethical, contextual, and methodological boundaries that matter when it comes to reusing visual data. For this reason, datasets should be accompanied by written guidelines for future data use. This can be a short, narrative document that helps future users understand how the data can (or cannot) be reused responsibly and why.
