Revise and Apply the Data Management Plan

The Data Management Plan (DMP) should describe how visual materials are prepared before deposit. This preparation may include:

  • Cleaning and organizing files before archiving
  • Protecting sensitive information in the dataset
  • Preparing visual materials so they are ready for circulation or repository deposit

Preparing repository-ready datasets

The DMP should also explain how visual materials are prepared for deposit in a trusted repository. This preparation includes:

  • Selecting FAIR-compliant file formats
  • Finalizing rich metadata at both item and dataset level
  • Providing contextual documentation, captions, and explanations of how visuals were produced, selected, transformed, and interpreted

Licensing and reuse conditions

When visual data are preserved and potentially shared, the DMP should specify the conditions under which they may be accessed and reused.
